Now...and Beyond!

At present there has been a multitude of data collected by physcists around the world. The discovery of the Higgs Boson by ATLAS and CMS has made the year of 2012 data-taking a remarkable time to be part of the field of high energy physics. This important discovery may help us understand why the world is the way it is. However, because it has been discovered does not mean that physicists can stop working! In fact, so many more details must be uncovered about this particle in order to really understand the workings.

And with the LHC and all experiments taking some down time to upgrade, work will not be slowed. Shortly, more data will be taken and then the LHC and experiments will be down for further upgrades in order to be able to handle the extremely high intensities. This increase is necessary to test the Standard Model, and will hopefully shed some light on the mysteries of our world.
