All Detectors are Not Created Equal

Compared to the ATLAS and CMS experiments, the LHCb experiment is very different! In those experiments, the collision happens inside the large detector, since it encases the beam pipe! However, the collision of proton beams occurs just outside the beginning of the detector at the LHCb experiment. This is due to the nature of the most important particle to us, the B's!

The Components

There are many detectors that make up the LHCb experiment, each one being just as important as the next. Below is a schematic diagram of all the detectors:
